About Yulia

Yulia Pivotskaya was born in Moscow, Russia. She graduated from Vaganova Ballet Academy and immediately joined The Saint-Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre. She performed all classical ballets with the Mikhailovsky Theatre. In 2008, she joined the Croatian National Ballet Theare as principal. Ms. Pivotskaya danced Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Nikia and Gamzatti in La Bayadere, Kitri in Don Quixote, Sugar Plum Fairy in Nutcracker, Aurora in Sleeping Beauty and lead in Le Corsaire, Napoli, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Bolero, Carmen, Carmina Burana, Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux, Classical Pas de Deux, Ekodoom. In 2014, she joined DANB. Among the roles she created while at DANB are Lucy in Kim Tuttle’s Dracula, Black Swan in A Haunted Swan Lake, Apollo, and Sugar Plum Fairy in Nutcracker.

Ms. Pivotskaya has a Master’s Degree in Ballet Pedagogy in Vaganova Ballet Academy. She has a 14 year history of hands-on experiences as a Ballet Teacher. She was a Ballet Instructor in Vaganova Ballet Academy, Russia; in Croatian Ballet School, Croatia; in Pofahl Studio, in Dance Alive National Ballet, USA. Ms. Pivotskaya has given Master Classes and Summer Intensives, doing choreography and staging performances. She has toured with Mikhailovsky Theatre to Japan and with the Croatian National Ballet Theatre to Italy and Turkey.

Ms. Pivotskaya is also certified in Progressive Ballet Technique.
