When you are ready to take your dance training to the next level, join us at our commercial dance summer intensive. Designed for commercial dancers ages 11 and up in intermediate to advanced levels, this summer intensive provides a deep dive into dance technique and artistry with a foundation in ballet as we prepare you for a career as a professional artist. The dance programs are designed to address the individual technical and artistic needs of intermediate and advanced/pre-professional students. Dancers under 11 interested in attending our commercial dance intensive will need to submit a video audition or consider our year-round evening dance classes.
Our 2019 Summer Intensive includes special guest instructors such as Caroline Lewis-Jones, Charles Renato, Nick DiNick, Kathryn Morgan, Rasta Thomas, Christopher Broughton, and more. Along with our guest instructors, you will receive training from our exemplary Skyra faculty: award-winning choreographers and industry professionals with decades of training and performance experience, boasting connections to top agents, casting directors, directors, producers, and distributors. They are passionate about the arts, believe in educating through positive reinforcement and respect, and together represent a vast knowledge in all aspects of visual and performing arts.

New students, or those who attended a class before August 2018, will need to choose the new student registration button.
The Film Projects
We have an exciting opportunity for students interested in gaining a real-world professional film performance experience. Skyra Studios will partner with Skyra Entertainment to create 2 short film projects that students will be a part of. Each project will include dance scenes for those dancers interested in learning how to perform for the camera. Award-winning producers Scott and Mary Poiley have developed the summer program for interested students to gain real industry experience. These students will be quickly immersed in a hands-on program that will teach them the do’s and don’ts of auditioning, scene study, character development and what it’s like to be on a real film set. The summer program offers opportunities for all interests. If your child is not interested in being in front of the camera and still wants to experience the film production side, they can join us behind the scenes. They can learn about producing, writing and other departments on a film set.
A Halloween Film
A Halloween Film
During Week 4: June 24th – 30th
Have fun creating a spooky Halloween themed film! Similar to previous projects, Let The Spirit Move You and Thriller, you too will take part in making a Skyra’s next Halloween Short Film.
Shooting Dates for Session 1: June 29th and 30th
Synopsis: The WEREHOUSE is an eccentric docu-style comedy inspired by the OFFICE that takes iconic monsters and places them in a mundane office environment. We will follow the monsters through interviews and b-roll as they creep through their workdays. The spine-chilling comedy will culminate in an all-out dance battle between the monsters and HR.
During Week 9: August 5th – 10th
Be prepared to experience one of Skyra’s larger budget short films, much like Sound Language. Dream State takes place in a futuristic world where virtual reality is part of everyday life and creativity is limitless. Go on an adventure with Kreo (Rasta Thomas) as he choreographs his newest masterpiece. Dream State is a highly stylized dance film set against a vibrant virtual world. There will be roles for actors and dancers of all styles.
